3rd Consortium and Advisory Board Meeting in Tienen

On April 9–10, 2025, the ReUse project consortium gathered in Tienen, Belgium for its third consortium meeting, alongside an advisory board meeting, both hosted by our partner Sortbat. The event was an important opportunity for partners to assess progress, refine the project roadmap, and engage with industry experts on emerging challenges and trends in battery recycling.

The meeting began with a warm welcome and introduction by the CEO of Bebat, Sortbat’s parent company, who offered valuable insight into the group’s broader vision for circular battery management. This was followed by an in-depth overview of Sortbat’s role and activities within the ReUse project. The consortium had the opportunity to tour Sortbat’s new facilities, including the Villa Pila and advanced sorting lines, which provided a firsthand view of the innovative processes shaping the future of sustainable battery recycling.

In the afternoon, the advisory board meeting took place, marked by the introduction of a new advisory board member, Siemens AG. The session also welcomed Stena Recycling. Their participation sparked dynamic discussions on current recycling challenges and offered valuable feedback to guide ongoing ReUse activities.

The second day focused on the finalization of work package presentations and coordination of future steps, with partners outlining the milestones and collaborations to be prioritized over the coming months.

We extend our sincere thanks to Sortbat for their generous hospitality and to all participants for their constructive input and engagement. The ReUse project continues to build momentum toward enabling innovative, efficient, and environmentally responsible battery recycling solutions in Europe.
